NOTICE: Field Day is still ON despite the
weather. It is asked that all who plan on volunteering show up
at Mac or Bartlem fields at 7:45am.

CYB/CYS Coaches, Managers, board
members, and parent volunteers, for a field work event.
This is our opportunity to help get
the fields in shape for the spring season, and we need
everyone's help and support in order to make this event
successful.
WHEN:
Saturday, April 2nd, 7:45am
thru noon.
Meet at assigned field at 7:45am to start work by 8:00.
Rain date: Saturday, April
9th.
FIELDS:
Bartlem Park (4 fields), Cheshire Park (3), McNamara (4), Dodd
(2), Highland (2).
Field box, bench and fence repair
at all P&R and BOE fields
OBJECTIVES:
Baseball field preparation, for the benefit of our youth
baseball and softball players.

GOALS:
1.)
Infield work. Volunteers are needed to
assist with infield work, namely to groom infield arc with clay
after sod cutting, fill infield divots and low spots with clay,
leveling area around home plate, baselines, and general infield
grooming. Tractors will be on hand for each field to move clay -
the expectation is that the equipment will do the majority of
the heavy lifting.
2.)
Outfield work. Filling in holes and divots as necessary.
3.)
Bench and Box Repairs. Some boxes require minor hinge and hasp
repairs/replacement, and priming / painting.
4.)
Fence repair. Volunteers are needed for tightening loose
connections and making misc. repairs, especially ensuring any
safety issues are corrected (i.e. sharp wires).
5.)
General clean-up of periphery - i.e. rake up leaves behind
backstops, dugouts, etc.
APPROACH:
Volunteers will be divided into crews of approximately 5
per crew; each crew will have a lead.
We need a crew for each field (15 field crews) - approx.
70 volunteers.
Please bring metal rakes, flat shovels, and work gloves.
Meet promptly at assigned field @7:45am.
In advance of the event, P&R will have delivered clay to
fields, and will have edged the infields.
ADOPT-A-FIELD:
Consider
volunteering to continue your commitment throughout the spring
season, extending work performed during Field Day. Intent is to instill a sense of ownership in our fields, and give
the fields ongoing TLC, for the benefit of all players using
such fields.
