The 2010 Flames softball season has been huge success! The 10U Flames advanced to the finals of the Babe Ruth State Tournament defeating New Milford, Norwalk and Newtown to advance to the state Finals. An amazing accomplishment for this age group and considering the short period of time they had to prepare. The 12U Flames won their inaugural tournament hosting 8 teams in very competitive tournament, defeating some good travel programs like the Southington Lighting, Valley Fusion, Cheshire Wildcats and the Connecticut Mirage to name a few. They have become well respected in the CVFL and Babe Ruth circles. Our 14U Flames had a good showing in the Flames Invitational and the state tournament winning their pool games and coming within a few outs of advancing.

Those of us within Cheshire Youth Softball are very proud and excited about the growth and interest in our program. To give you some background, the Cheshire Flames are a travel softball program within CYS and the teams play travel games in addition to the CYS regular season. Our Mission is to provide opportunity to the girls of Cheshire and surrounding unaffiliated communities with Babe Ruth Softball, to play in a travel softball program. The only Requirement is that the players must play in the CYS Regular In-town season. The number of games and duration of season will depend on the age group. Please see below to get a sense of the commitment for each level.

10U Flames - The 10u team will play in the CVFL (approximately 14 games) and 2 tournaments (state tournament in July and CVFL tournament). Tryouts will be held during the 2011 rec season (May). The returning 10u Manager will be Mike Catanzarita who lead the 2010 team to the CT Babe Ruth State Finals and an invitation to the New England Regional Championship.

11U Flames This will be a new team to the Flames organization. The Interest in Travel softball has exceeded capacity so we will add the 11u team in 2011. In essence, it will be a 2^nd 12u team within our program. This team will play a CVFL (Connecticut Valley Fast pitch League) schedule and play 3-4 tournaments spread throughout late may, June and July. The 11u team will be coached By Bob Vignola , an assistant coach on the 2010 10u Flames state finals team and is also a former Cheshire High School Assistant Baseball Coach

12U Flames -    The 12u Flames will play a CVFL (Connecticut Valley Fast pitch League) schedule and play 3-4 tournaments spread throughout late May, June and July. The 12u team will be coached By Kevin Hunt. Kevin has been a coach within CYS for years and was also the coach for our 12u development team this past season.

14U Flames Black -   Due to the expected level on interest, there will most likely be multiple teams at this age group in 2011. The Flames Black team will play in the CVFL (approximately 14 games). This team will also play in 6 tournaments throughout May, June & July. One tournament will be out of state. This team will not play rec games. The tryouts will be in August (exact dates coming very soon). The 14U team will be managed by Craig Odermatt. Craig has coached the 10u and 12u Flames over the past 3 seasons.

14U Flames Red & White - These teams will play a combination CVFL (Connecticut Valley Fast pitch League) schedule and Babe Ruth Schedule. They will also play 3-4 tournaments spread throughout late May, June and July. The 14u team coaches will be determined after the Flames Black team has been formed. These teams will not play a rec season.

16U Flames - The 16U team will play a CVFL Schedule and games against other Babe Ruth and recreational town teams as well as playing in the Babe Ruth State Tournament. The 16U team will be coached by John Hissick. John is the returning 14u coach from the 2010 Flames
